As we all know, Rosie was a huge female icon during WWII. She represented the “new breed” of woman who was unheard of before - the working woman. The image of Rosie the Riveter proved to men and women alike that woman could do anything! In no way am I a feminist, but I believe that this icon inspires a sense of pride to working women around the world.
Now, since I gave you a little back story, let’s get down to the costume. It’s a bit sexier than the original Rosie! This outfit has a polka-dotted crop top that ties in the front and bright red overalls that grasp attention as they bell out toward the bottom. The overall straps are simply 2 red ribbons attached at the top of the pants in front that tie in a halter style and tuck under the white-collar at the back of the neck. To complete the look is the 40′s style hair net, or a snood as costumers call them, accented with a beautiful red bow peeking out at the top. Even though you’re so busy working, you can’t forget about your husband the WW2 General.
Rosie was either a -2 or didn’t have any womanly pooch at all. The high waist is not flattering to any amount of stomach fat, so I recommend getting a waist cincher if you just can’t live without this costume (which I just may not be able to do) It’s just so wonderfully Rosie! This Forum costume is a Standard Adult Size (STD) which normally fits up to a dress size 14.
Happy Hunting!
